Embracing grief

Presenter: Jo Betz
When Jo was suddenly widowed and thrown into the world of grief, she'd never experienced anything like it. Confused, overwhelmed and trying to 'soldier on', she found herself trying to problem solve her way out of her grief, searching for the quick fix (if only there was one!).
But as her journey continued and she experienced the very deep lows of loss along with the joy of life, Jo began to embrace her grief and work with it rather than against it. Ultimately leading to a journey of self-discovery, the importance of exploring grief (the good, the bad and the downright ugly) and how to best care for ourselves in our own grief journeys.
About Jo
Jo Betz was a savvy businesswoman and highly-sought after marriage celebrant - having officiated over 450 weddings - when all of a sudden, she was planning her husband’s funeral when he died suddenly of an asthma attack in the middle of the night. She had gone from celebrating love to being swallowed by grief in the matter of a single evening. She was now a widow, and a single mother to a young daughter.
A natural communicator, Jo is now passionate about sharing her interesting perspective and contemporary approach to a delicate subject - with equal parts honesty and humour - and using her powerful story to humanise grief for others while providing actionable strategies that help people dealing with loss to ‘embrace their grief’.
