Camp Widow is coming to Australia

First Light Widowed Association and USA-based organisation Soaring Spirits International, are excited to announce they will be bringing the Camp Widow® program to Australia in 2020.

The one-day Camp Widow pop-up program will be hosted in Brisbane on Saturday, 16 May, 2020, followed by networking activities on Sunday, 17 May 2020.

The program was created in 2009 by Michele Neff Hernandez who was a 35-year-old mother of three when her husband Phil was tragically killed in a cycling accident in 2005. Based in the United States, Camp Widow® is currently held every year in California, Florida and Canada.

First Light president Rebecca Adams said this would be the first time the Camp Widow program has been delivered outside of North America.

“Working with Soaring Spirits to bring this life-changing event to Australian widows and widowers was the reason our founding directors created First Light.  It has been a long-time dream to share this program with our community so local widowed people can have the opportunity to benefit from its inspirational, healing effects,” Rebecca said.

One of the features that make Camp Widow® so unique is that all events, including workshops, round table discussions and face-to-face networking opportunities, are all lead and facilitated by widowed people, for widowed people.
