Season Two of The Widow Diaries podcast out now

First Light is proud to launch Season Two of its acclaimed podcast The Widow Diaries, a heartfelt and honest series sharing the real-life stories of people navigating life after the loss of a partner.

Hosted by respected journalist and young widow Caroline Winter, The Widow Diaries continues to create space for the often-unspoken experiences of grief, love, resilience and rebuilding after loss.

Through deeply personal conversations, the podcast shines a light on the unique and often invisible realities of widowhood, particularly for younger widowed people.

First Light CEO Rebecca Adams said the overwhelming response to the first season, released last year, highlighted just how important storytelling and connection are within the widowed community.

“Widowhood can be incredibly isolating, especially for younger people who often feel invisible in their grief,” Rebecca said.

“Hearing real-life stories from others who have walked this path is incredibly powerful. It reminds people they are not alone, that their emotions are valid, and that hope and healing are possible, even after unimaginable loss.”

“Through The Widow Diaries, Caroline has normalised a very difficult experience in a way few things can.

“These stories are raw, honest, courageous and deeply human. They help widowed people feel seen, understood and supported, while also helping the broader community better understand grief and life after loss.

“Listeners from throughout Australian and around the world reached out to us to let us know how powerful it was for them to recognise their own experiences within our stories.”

Rebecca said Caroline worked tirelessly with eight podcast guests, as a volunteer on season two of the podcast, as her gift to the widowed community.

“Producing season two of The Widow Diaries has been incredibly meaningful, both personally and professionally,” Caroline said.

“What’s been most powerful is hearing from widowed people who say the podcast has helped them feel seen, understood and less alone in their grief. That sense of connection and community is exactly why we created it.”

Caroline said giving voice to widowed people and their lived experiences has been one of the most rewarding aspects of the series.

“One of the things I’m most proud of is being able to give voice to widowed people and their experiences in an honest and compassionate way,” she said.

“Every story is different, but there are so many shared emotions in grief, love and rebuilding, and listeners have told us hearing those stories has genuinely helped them.”

As a widow herself, Caroline says the podcast remains deeply personal.

“It’s allowed me to reflect on my own journey while creating space for others to share theirs,” she said.

“The response from listeners has been overwhelming, with people reaching out to say they finally feel understood, or that the podcast gave them hope at a time they desperately needed it.”

Produced by First Light Widowed Support, The Widow Diaries is for anyone touched by widowhood — or anyone seeking to better understand love, loss and the many ways people rebuild their lives after heartbreak.

Season Two of The Widow Diaries is now available on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, iHeartRadio and Amazon Music.
